Born
on August 4, 1976 in Iran, Gorgan,
Gilbert Hovsepian grew up in a
house filled with love, encouragement, and
opportunities. With his father as the
Superintendent of Iranian Assemblies of God
churches, Gilbert was raised in a strong church
and worship based life style. This led him to
find interest in playing the piano at the age of
seven.
At early age Gilbert found his passion in music
by not only playing the piano but also learning
how to play the drums and guitar. This passion
and talent was greatly used in the Iranian
Church ministry. He was appointed as a music
director in one of the Iranian churches in his
early twenties. This new music ministry opened
many doors for Gilbert to minister to those who
did not know Jesus. He reached many through his
music by producing Christian albums.
Due to his father’s martyrdom in 1994, he
migrated to the States with his mother, two
brothers, and sister’s family in 1999. Within a
couple of months, he became to be a well
appreciated Worship Leader at Christ Armenian
Church in Glendale, California. He continued on
his journey in music and ministry through
different Christian satellite stations. Though
Gilbert’s father was murdered by the Persian
extremists in Iran, he grew to love and forgive
them through the powerful work of God, and he
became more eager to share the gospel of Jesus
Christ to that same nation through satellite.
“I truly hated anything that had to do with Iran
and Iranians, but through the miracle of our
Lord Jesus Christ, now my new found passion is
to minister to Iranians and Muslims, leading
them to Christ”.
Also, by the
grace of God, Gilbert has built a professional
presence in the Christian music industry. He has
traveled to several countries, ministering
through music and worship. In addition, Gilbert
has performed on stage with the well-known
drummer, Jacob Armen in many concert halls.
Within the past few years, Gilbert has recorded
and produced several Christian albums in the
United States and the production continues.
Today, Gilbert still serves the Persian
community through his outreach on satellite and
has been approved to study in one of the top
music programs in California. With the help and
support of a major label and many others,
Gilbert recorded a Farsi Christian album called
“Jesus is alive”. He has also initiated a
project series of Armenian and Farsi praise and
worship albums for home groups. The series he is
producing and recording is called Hallelujah. So
far, the first and second and the third
Hallelujah series has been distributed and he is
in the process of recording Hallelujah (4).
“Jesus has given us a great mission, and that is
to evangelize. Music and worship plays an
extreme role in this great mission. My purpose
and vision is to equip all Armenian and Persian
churches with songs of praise and worship
through the series of Hallelujah’s”.
